What We Do
We've been supporting the students and teachers of Zaharis Elementary for over two decades.
ZPTO is comprised of parent and staff volunteers who want students to have the best possible experience during their years at Zaharis.
Our PTO raises funds to support school and classroom needs, partners with local businesses, provides teacher support and appreciation, puts on several fun events throughout the year, and more!

Meet the 2025-2026 Board
Ashley Barras, Former President
Ashley has been a parent at Zaharis for 7 years and is the mother of Gavin (8th grader @ Shepard Jr.) and Westin (3rd grader) 3 years ago, she served as the PTO Vice President and soon after promoted to President, She served for the years 204-2026. She is happy to continue in her new role as supporting President. With a genuine interest in enhancing the educational experience for all students and creating a fun environment for the staff and families. Ashley is committed to making a positive impact on the school community.
Samantha McGirr, President
Samantha is excited to be joining the Zaharis PTO Board as President this year. She is an Arizona native and a former 2nd grade teacher, and is passionate about supporting students, teachers, and building a fun, welcoming school community. She has three kids; Pepper is in 4th grade, Henk is in 1st grade, and Stockton is 2 years old. In her free time, she loves reading, running, and going on adventures with her family. She is looking forward to a great year with the Zaharis community!
